February 10th Weekend Results

"The 'Cock enjoyed a very big weekend of results which started on Friday night with two quaddies and then continued on Saturday with multiple winners across the board on Saturday."

Cheat Sheet

Canterbury (Fri)

Race 5 – 8:15pm

This is a very even race where The ‘Cock won’t be leaning heavily in any direction, with Hurricane Harbour (1) rating narrowly on top ahead of Sea Sharp (4) with Cyrus Rocks (2), Prodigy (8) and Balmain Boy (3) all rating a length behind the top two.

Hurricane Harbour rates narrowly on top after a last start third placing behind Beijing Road and Multitude over 2200m at Warwick Farm. He’s drawn well where he should look to find a spot on the speed and if that is the case The ‘Cock expects he will go very close.

The ‘Cock had this pegged as a very even race and it turned out he was correct. Cyrus Rocks at $14 managed to lead all of the way ensuring The ‘Cock’s quaddie survived.

Race 6 – 8:45pm

The ‘Cock likes his top rater Pianissimo (6) as a strong betting option here as a leading chance sitting ahead of Level Eight (3) & Miami Dade (7) who both rate a length behind.

Pianissimo’s latest three runs at Canterbury have all rated very well and he has shown himself as a more than capable commodity of winning here. Last time he rated very highly when finishing a length behind Francesco over this course and distance and off that he is the one they have to beat.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Pianissimo rates on top here and is clearly the best bet of the race. The ‘Cock is very confident to focus on him in win markets. Include the other two listed runners above in your quaddie to pad out the second leg.

The ‘Cock’s win bet on Pianissimo didn’t go to plan but his quaddie survived with Miami Dade winning the race at odds of $18.

Race 7 – 9:15pm

The ‘Cock is keen on Just Got Lucky (3) who rates on top here with his consistent form ahead of Bold Chance (6), Rose Of Man (1), Lightz (7) & Geneteau (5) who all rate a length behind The ‘Cock’s top pick.

Just Got Lucky goes on top here after rating very highly when placing over this course and distance last time out. He gets Kerrin McEvoy on here and The ‘Cock rates him as a very strong betting option if he can replicate his run last start.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Just Got Lucky is a bet for The ‘Cock at his current quote of $7.50 as he should account for this field; each of whom are struggling to stay to form. Include the above numbers in your quaddie as they all rate a length behind and if they find their best are expected to go close.

After Just Got Lucky was scratched The ‘Cock elected to let his quaddie selections ride as they all rated evenly. The ‘Cock’s quaddie survived with Bold Chance winning the race at $5.50.

Race 8 – 9:45pm

Very tough race for The ‘Cock to round out the card at Canterbury where he has Reward For Fashion (10)Leami Astray (9) & Buckle Up (8) all rating a length ahead of Our Mantra (4)Lord Cecil (3) and Renewal (11). These six rate as ‘The ‘Cock’s best chances and he doesn’t expect the winner to come outside of these. Include all of the above runners in your quaddie to finish off the card at Canterbury.

The ‘Cock had this pegged as a very tough race so he played it safe by including all of the above runners in his quaddie. This turned out to be a great result for The ‘Cock as he landed the quaddie which paid a whopping $4,017.50.

Moonee Valley (Fri)

Race 5 – 8:30pm

The ‘Cock is very keen on Roddandtodd (8) here and he is keen to have a very sizeable bet on him here. He finished two lengths behind Nature Strip last start which is very high rating form and if he runs up to that rating again he’ll be winning here. The ‘Cock is happy to have him one out in the quaddie.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Roddandtodd is the best of the card for The ‘Cock and he is keen to have a sizeable win bet on him.

Roddandtodd was the best bet of the night for The ‘Cock and he was very pleased to see him canter home by over three lengths. This result also ensured the survival of The ‘Cock’s quaddie.

Race 6 – 9:00pm

The ‘Cock likes his top rater Knight Commander (5) who he expects will win again ahead of Trojan Storm (16) & Believing (15). Behind his top three he has Seannie (12) & Sabotage (6) both rating well and insists they must be included the quaddie.

Knight Commander can win again off his last start victory and The ‘Cock is keen to be on him again here. He rated very highly when winning over this track and distance last start and The ‘Cock is expecting him to go to a new level here.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Knight Commander is a bet for The ‘Cock at $3.00 off a $1.80 rating. Include the other listed runners above in your quaddie to ensure survival.

Knight Commander was scratched prior to the race which left The ‘Cock holding only his quaddie selections. Seannie was one of The ‘Cock’s rough chances and got the job done at $4.80.

Race 7 – 9:30pm

The ‘Cock has this pegged as a very even race with Bondeiger (1)Diamond Grace (11) & King Kamada (3) all rating evenly with Dreaded (9) around a length in behind them. These four rate as The ‘Cock’s top chances and with little between them he is keen to let his quaddie ride without having a win bet on any of them.

Another even race for The ‘Cock and he was happy he played it safe, with Diamond Grace getting the job done at $5 and keeping his quaddie ticket alive.

Race 8 – 10:00pm

True Excelsior (9) rates on top in the last for The ‘Cock and looks an excellent betting option ahead of Avanti Rose (4) and Miss Vesper(5); both of which should be included in the quaddie.True Excelsior has a very good first up record and The ‘Cock is expecting it to stand up here, her highest ratings would account for this field with ease and The ‘Cock is banking on exactly that.Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • True Excelsior is a bet for The ‘Cock at $3.50 and he is keen to be on her. Include the other two listed runners in the quaddie.

Avanti Rose won the last at Moonee Valley ensuring The ‘Cock landed a piece of the quaddie which paid $228.

Caulfield

Race 1 – 12:30pm

Downhearted (7) with the featherweight gets the nod here for The ‘Cock in what is a tough first race to kick off C.F Orr Stakes Day. The main danger is Plot The Course (4) who ran to a new peak rating last start and a length behind is Gallic Chieftain (2) & Goldstream (1).

Downwhearted comes off two placings at Sandown and with the lightweight rates as the top pick for The ‘Cock. The ‘Cock expects he will push forward from the draw and give them something to chase down from there.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

    • Downhearted is a bet here for The ‘Cock at $3.75 which is well above his rated price of $2.30 and The ‘Cock is keen to be on him.

Tough start for The ‘Cock as his top selection Downhearted was run down late in the final stages of the race by Khutulun.

Race 2 – 1:05pm

Tough race for The ‘Cock with all the lightly raced runners but he expects Oohood (2) Pure Elation (9) will fight out the finish as they have the most improvement with Downloads (8) rating a length behind them.

Oohood rated well when flashing down the outside of the track last start and The ‘Cock expects she is ready to win here. Luke Currie has the ride which tells The ‘Cock that she is the pick of the McEvoy runners.

Pure Elation comes out of the same race and rates exactly the same as Oohood. She will have improved off that run and The ‘Cock is expecting her to do exactly that.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • The ‘Cock recommends an evenly proportioned stake on Oohood and Pure Elation and if playing the exotics he insists that Downloads is to be included.

Oohood could only manage second for The ‘Cock as Enbihaar got the win at $15.

Race 3 – 1:40pm

Run Naan (1) is the clear on top rater for The ‘Cock ahead of Ollivander (2) who is a length behind him even though he finished ahead of Run Naan last start.

Run Naan rates very highly for The ‘Cock as his second up run at Flemington is far superior to what any other horse in this race can produce and at set weights he looks a very good bet for The ‘Cock.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Run Naan is a bet for The ‘Cock and if he reproduces his rating from Flemington here he’ll beat this field. If playing the exotics Ollivander is to be included.

The ‘Cock got this race wrong as both Run Naan and Ollivander were unplaced. The well supported Written By won the race.

Race 4 – 2:15pm

Gailo Chop (1) is the best bet of the day for The ‘Cock and he is keen to be on him to win here ahead of Harlem (4) who is the main danger if he is fit enough to win.

Gailo Chop (1) is a dual Group 1 winner who rates as the clear on top selection for The ‘Cock. The ‘Cock is confident that even if he doesn’t run to his peak rating he will still be able to account for this field as it is a sharp drop in class compared to the field he beat in the G1 Caulfield Stakes.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Gailo Chop is a bet for The ‘Cock and he is very to be on him to win here. The ‘Cock also recommends having a saver bet on Harlem; who is the only horse who can beat him.

The ‘Cock nailed this race with Gailo Chop winning ahead of Harlem who was his main danger.

Race 5 – 2:50pm

Tricky race for The ‘Cock with all the first up runners but he has Shoals (1) as the top rater ahead of Booker (3) & Tulip (2). He also has Smart Coupe (6) around a length behind them and at a price rates as an excellent chance to run a placing as she has race fitness on her side.

Shoals has a significant class edge on her rivals here and The ‘Cock expecting her to stand up and account for this field. She is undefeated over 1200m and if she reaches a rating anywhere near that of last prep she’ll be winning.

Booker beat Shoals last prep and rates as the main danger. She runs well at this track and the stable must be respected.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Shoals is a bet for The ‘Cock and if you’re looking for value he also recommends a saver bet on Smart Coupe, as she is well over her rated odds of $4.20 and he is expecting a big run from her.

The ‘Cock got this race was wrong as Shoals who was well backed before the race failed to run a place. Booker who was The ‘Cock’s main danger managed to lead all of the way and win at a dividend of $4.40.

Race 6 – 3:25pm

Merchant Navy (6) rated as an excellent G1 winner last prep and on that rates as the top selection for The ‘Cock to win here. He has Super Cash (2) & Hellbent (4)as the main dangers who can both rate very highly on their day.

Merchant Navy as an impeccable first up record and off his last start G1 win he is the clear top pick for The ‘Cock. If he rates anywhere near what he previously as he’ll account for this field and The ‘Cock is expecting he will be doing exactly that.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • The ‘Cock is very keen to bet on Merchant Navy and he also recommends at the price to save on Super Cash who rates very well when running first up from the break. Include all the above listed runners in the quaddie.

The ‘Cock’s saver bet on Super Cash at $4.60 and got the cash as Merchant Navy went on to finish third.

Race 7 – 4:05pm

This is not a race The ‘Cock is keen on but he does have Astoria (3) on top who ran in some very high rating races last prep. Main dangers are Prevailing Winds (5)Island Missile (8) & Villermont (2).

Astoria (3) comes through some very high rating races and off him latest trial could be ready to win. The ‘Cock has him rated a $6.30 chance and after opening $16 looks well over the odds.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Astoria represents great each way value at the current price to The ‘Cock and he is keen to be betting on him. Include all the above runners in the quaddie as this is a tough leg.

The ‘Cock had Astoria on top who placed at $3.20 ensuring he turned a small profit on the race.

Race 8 – 4:45pm

Hartnell (1) rates clearly on top for The ‘Cock to win the G1 C.F Orr Stakes ahead of Tosen Stardom (3) and then a length to Thronum (8) & Black Heart Bart (2)who both need to be included in the quaddie.

Hartnell’s run in the P.B Lawrence when first up last prep rates very well for this and The ‘Cock has him clearly on top off that run. Craig Williams won on him first up last prep and The ‘Cock is expecting the same again here.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Hartnell is the clear top rater for The ‘Cock here with his first up record and he is keen to bet on him accordingly. Include all the above runners in the quaddie to pad out the leg.

Group 1 C.F Orr Stakes and The ‘Cock couldn’t have got this more right. Hartnell won the race at $6.50 which was good old fashioned fill up for The ‘Cock.

Race 9 – 5:25pm

Silent Sedition (1) rates very well for The ‘Cock first up and off her previous ratings shapes as the one to beat. Main dangers are Petition (7)Flippant (5) & Fragonard (3) who are all currently performing to a length behind what Silent Sedition’s best can produce.

Silent Sedition won the G1 William Reid Stakes last prep and rates as the clear on top pick. She runs well first up and also has a good association with Craig Williams. She’s trialled well leading into this and The ‘Cock is expecting her to get the job done here.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • The ‘Cock is keen to bet on Silent Sedition and suggests the $3.25 currently on offer is good value. He insists all of the above runners are to be included in the quaddie as insurance.

The ‘Cock’s main dangers Flippant and Petition could only manage second and third as Prussian Vixen at 40-1 managed to win, in what The ‘Cock expects was a very unpopular result.

Warwick Farm

Race 6 – 3:45pm

Competitive Group 3 to start the quaddie at Warwick Farm and The ‘Cock has Kementari (4) as his top rater with Siege Of Quebec (3) a length behind and with Brave Song (6) in for third.

Kementari rates on top for The ‘Cock and if he produces the rating that saw him place in the Caulfield Guineas he will be winning this. He has trialled well with Glyn Schofield aboard and The ‘Cock expects he’ll be ready to fly first up from the spell.

Siege Of Quebec won well first up and produced a new peak rating in doing so. He has the fitness to challenge Kementari and The ‘Cock is expecting improvement from his first up run.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • The ‘Cock is keen to bet on Kementari who off a rating of $2.40 is well over the odds at $3.50. Include the other two runners mentioned above in the quaddie.

The ‘Cock nailed this race with Kementari winning the at $3.30.

Race 7 – 4:25pm

The ‘Cock expects this will be a race in two between Bonny O’Reilly (4) & Egyptian Symbol (2). The race is littered with first uppers which is a problem for The ‘Cock and although he has narrowed the race down to two he is not keen to bet into it.

The ‘Cock didn’t like this race at all and he was glad he stayed out as Egyptian Symbol could only manage second placing.

Race 8 – 5:05pm

Show A Star (4) ran to peak rating in Melbourne around this time last year and is clearly on top to win here. Main danger is Supply And Demand (4) who rates well over this track and trip and shapes as the only danger as he is keen to take a stand against More To Gain (6) who is a risk first up.

Show A Star has plenty on this field and if he gets a soft lead again it could be a matter of how far. He won well last start at Rosehill very well and The ‘Cock is expecting him to improve off that rating and reach a new level here.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Show A Star is the clearly the best betting option in the race and The ‘Cock is keen to be on him. Include the runners listed above in the quaddie.

Show A Star was the best bet of the race and The ‘Cock was correct as he was able to lead all of the way and win at $2.00 after being very heavily supported.

Race 9 – 5:45pm

The ‘Cock has Echo Effect (6) as his top rater to round out the quaddie at Warwick Farm ahead of Fickle Folly (9)Princefamous (4) & Hieroglyphics (7).

Echo Effect has very good fresh form and being two from two over 1000m tells The ‘Cock that he’ll be in the finish.

Fickle Folly comes off a 35 day let up which should have freshened her up and if she reaches her peak 1000m rating from three starts ago at Randwick she’ll go close.

Recomended Betting Strategy:

  • Echo Effect is a bet for The ‘Cock at the current price and he also insists for the above numbers to be included in the quaddie.

The ‘Cock’s main danger Fickle Folly proved too good in the last race at Warwick Farm with his top selection Echo Effect running fifth.

Doomben

Race 7 – 3:37pm

Dream Master (10) rates clearly on top for The ‘Cock here and his last two ratings have him clearly on top to win. Rich Affair (4) rated highly last prep when running third up and off that shapes as the main danger.

Dream Master is a bet for The ‘Cock here and if he can hold his form from last start he will account for this field. Jeff Lloyd will take him to the lead here and The ‘Cock expects he will prove far too good.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • The ‘Cock has Dream Master as an excellent betting option to win and suggests it will be a skinny leg of the quaddie with only Rich Affair going in beside him.

Tough viewing for The ‘Cock as his top selection Dream Master could only manage second.

Race 8 – 4:17pm

Tough race for The ‘Cock as he holds doubts around whether his top rater – First Crush (1) will be able to replicate his rating he produced last start. Main dangers are Glendara (2) ahead of Doubt Defying (4) & Show ‘Em (10).

First Crush reached a new peak rating last start where he was able to turn his form around and The ‘Cock is not convinced he will be able to reproduce that number here. His run prior to his spike in ratings was very poor and it resulted in him finishing second last out of 11 runners.

The ‘Cock had this pegged as a tough race which was correct and he was glad he stayed out as the winner paid $12.

Race 9 – 4:55pm

Open race this one at Doomben and The ‘Cock is having difficulty splittingSalmanazar (6), Mr Bellagio (9), Sea The Sparkle (14), Brigadoon Rise (11)Suggan Buggan (10), Deep Image (7) Lyricist (12). The ‘Cock will be letting his quaddie ride here and insists to include all of the above numbers to ensure survival.

Another open race for The ‘Cock and he was glad he didn’t bet into it, as Cornrow won the race paying $17.

Race 10 – 5:30pm

Tough race to round out the quaddie at Doomben with Inspired Estelle (16)Courtza King (8), Mogador (15), Oink (10), Denarius (9), Of The Day (14) &Prioritise (11) all rating as chances and The ‘Cock insists they must all go into the quaddie.

Tough finish to a tough few races at Doomben as Hanwritten at $9.50 beat one of The ‘Cock’s main chances in Oink.

Morphettville

Race 6 – 3:06pm

Nice race to get us started at Morphettville with and The ‘Cock has leant the way of Star Fortune (3) narrowly ahead of Unbreakable (1), Game Of War (6) & Enki (8).

Star Fortune is a Victorian trained visitor who just missed by half a length last start when rating very highly and The ‘Cock is keen to be on him again here. He performed well last start and reached a new peak rating which The ‘Cock expects will be good enough to get him over the line.

The ‘Cock nailed this race as Star Fortune managed to get the job done at $4.00.

Race 7 – 3:46pm

The ‘Cock can’t split White Kaps (7), Iconic (1) & With Hope (8) here – who are all capable of beating French Rock (4) who The ‘Cock is prepared to risk coming off a 49 day break. The top three are all capable of running to a rating that will see them win this The ‘Cock is happy to have all three in his quaddie which he will let ride.

The ‘Cock was happy to just let his quaddie ride which proved to be a fruitful decision as White Kaps managed to win at $3.

Race 8 – 4:26pm

The ‘Cock has Blue Tycoon (3) on top here as the clear top rater off his Melbourne form which is a standout here. The main dangers include Rupture (9) Affray (5) who are both a length behind Blue Tycoon at their best but represent great value.

Blue Tycoon reached a new peak rating when winning at Cranbourne last start and if he can run up to that here he’ll account for this field.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Blue Tycoon is the clear top rater and The ‘Cock is keen to have a win bet on him accordingly. Include the above listed runners in the quaddie to ensure survival.

Blue Tycoon rated on top for The ‘Cock and didn’t let him down, as he got the job done at $2.40 by over a length.

Race 9 – 5:06pm

Difficult race to end the quaddie at Morphettville but The ‘Cock is very confident that his top three standout selections will be fighting out the finish in Tahnee Tiara (6), Tycoon Sofie (10) & Rowdy Richard (8) who all rate as even chances to win. Mandee (7) must also go in the quaddie because if she can recapture her Melbourne form is a rough chance.

The ‘Cock had this pegged as a very difficult race and decided to only let his quaddie ride. This proved to be a good decision as Tycoon Sofie managed to win at $5 landing him a piece of the $293.70 quaddie dividend.

Pinjarra

Race 5 – 3:20pm

Wide open race for this and The ‘Cock is struggling to lean in any direction. His top raters are Mouquet (10), Freedom By Choice (13), Stoicism (15), Storm Dancer (11), Persian Princess (8) & Dr Sykes (5), but this is as tough a race as you’ll find and the winner could come from anywhere.

The ‘Cock had this marked as a wide open race and was keen to let only his quaddie ride; which proved to be a wise decision as Storm Dancer got the job done at $8.50 which was a great start.

Race 6 – 3:55pm

The undefeated Kiss The Breeze (4) rates on top for The ‘Cock and he is keen to bet on her at the current price. Main dangers include Platoon (2), Ngawi (5) &Princess Pierro (6) who all rate a length behind The ‘Cock’s top rater.

Kiss The Breeze has a length on this field and the very fact that he is two from two so early in his career suggests that he knows how to win. He rates as the top pick at $1.60 and after opening $2.10 he is well over The ‘Cock’s rating.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • Kiss The Breeze rates on top as a very good betting option for The ‘Cock and he is keen to put the feathers out and step in here. Include the above listed runners in the quaddie because if they are to improve they’ll go very close.

The ‘Cock got this race wrong as Kiss The Breeze failed to run a place after being very heavily supported.

Race 7 – 4:25pm

The ‘Cock has Cognac (1), Epic Grey (2) & Street Fury (6) on top as they are all capable of reaching the exact same rating. He also has How To Fly (9) around a length behind and if she can return a higher rating she is also capable of winning.

Epic Grey has a flawless second up record of two wins from as many starts and this record could very well be extended here. Only knock is that he has come up very short and The ‘Cock isn’t keen to dive into $2.30 after rating him a $2.90 chance.

The ‘Cock got this race correct as Epic Grey managed to win the race, however after coming up a very short price favourite he elected to stay out.

Race 8 – 5:00pm

The ‘Cock can’t separate Gee Boss (2) & Yeah Dardy (5) who he expects will repeat their top two finish last time they met. The main danger to them running the quinella is Seeker (8) who rated through the roof last time at Pinjarra and on paper is a track and distance specialist.

Gee Boss has rated very highly his last four starts which includes two wins and he looks set to return an even higher number here. He’s very consistent and The ‘Cock doesn’t expect his consistency to drop away here.

Seeker loves the track and distance at Pinjarra; having won two from three over 1200m here and whilst he’s been unplaced in his last five runs, The ‘Cock is prepared to forgive him returning to a track he loves and at $21 he looks well over the odds.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

  • The ‘Cock can’t split his top two selections and recommends an even stake on both, with Seeker a must include for the quaddie.

The ‘Cock recommended an even stake on both Gee Boss & Yeah Dardy and he was pleased to see Gee Boss win the race by under a length.
