Champagne Stakes Weekend Preview

Cheat Sheet

Randwick Race 4 - 1.45pm

Much the same as the previous race from a betting perspective here with Holy Snow (3) making for a clear standout choice in this 2000m race, rating well on top for The ‘Cock from Tangled (1) & Higher Ground (5).

Holy Snow (3) simply looks a class above against this lot and has his foot firmly on the till after very close minor placings in the Phar Lap and Carbine Club Stakes in his two most recent efforts.

Might sit close to last throughout but fat fingers on the Bet365 trading floor must have hit the wrong number on the keyboard again to put out $4.80 and make him one of the must-have bets for the day.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

$4.80 with Bet365 for Holy Snow (3) is more than double The ‘Cock’s marked price and he doesn’t expect it will last long once this reaches his hundreds of thousands of subscribers, so get on quickly with a strong hand.

Morphettville Race 7 - 4.46pm

Group Three feature race on the card shapes up as an interesting betting race with just moderate speed on show, with The ‘Cock marking Think Bleue (1) ahead of Harmattan (6) & Blue Morpho (3) at the business end of proceedings.

Think Bleue (1) rates well given a very strong start to her career that has seen her score thrice in the first six starts, but coming in off a four week break and up to 1800m for the first time in her career, The ‘Cock can’t have enough confidence to invest his hard-earned into her despite the top billing.

Similarly, Harmattan (6) has so far done her best work at 1600m and below over her first four outings, and The ‘Cock would prefer to have the double-figure value of Blue Morpho (3) rather than the $4.60 on her given how similar the pair measure up.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

Favouring the value for money available for Blue Morpho (3) at $13 with Bet365 for a small bet in this race.

Doomben Race 6 - 2.27pm

Listed level dash over the 1050m where The ‘Cock has Marble (4) and Whypeeo (2) rating as the two best runners in the race and well in advance of anything else in the field.

Expect them to be at opposite ends of the field in the running as Whypeeo (2) goes to the lead while Marble (4) is most likely forced to take a sit towards the end from the carpark gate.

Unfortunately, there are too many first uppers throughout the field to have a great deal of confidence, including Whypeeo (2) who is currently priced as an odds-on favourite. As a result, The ‘Cock would prefer to take just a small bet on Marble (4) at $3.50 and leave his involvement in the race at that.

Recommended Betting Strategy:

Small stake on Marble (4) at the $3.50 top quote from Bet365.
