Schweppes Oaks Weekend Review

Was a solid outing for The 'Cock especially at Morphettville and Flemington where 3 winners were nabbed across both cards. Fair few placings throughout the course of the day as well as some high confidence selections being scratched. Despite quiet days at Rosehill and the Gold Coast, the Metro Set continues to perform quite well and had only a couple things gone The 'Cock's way it would have been an absolute fill up.

Cheat Sheet

Morphettville

Race 1 – No rush to get involved. Either a very small bet on Dancers Kin (1) at $6.50 or save your cash for later in the day.

THIRD. Was soft in the market late and ran a gallant placing.

Race 2 – Nice avenue for a good early fill-up with Waging War (2) at the $2.20 on offer across the board a very juicy proposition.

Drifted in the market and ran like a drifting favourite as it finished off FOURTH in a race it should have done easily.

Race 3 – Two names on the ticket here with Liten In My Veins (2) the focal point at $3.20 with Ladbrokes, then a chaser on Mihany (7) at $10 with Bet365.

WIN (Lite In My Veins) and THIRD (Mihany). Lite In My Veins drifted from $2.8 to $4.60 but got the win and Mihany firmed from $10 to $6.

Race 4 – Medium bet on Nature Strip (2) at $2.60 with Bet365.

FOURTH. Beaten in the last 100m with a $151 pop swamping them all.

Race 5 – Take the $6.50 with Neds for I’m Wesley (5) along with the $5 top price for Sprightly Lass (7) with Bet365.

WIN (Sprightly Lass) and FOURTH (I’m Wesley). I’m Wesley drifted considerably and ran pretty well for fourth. Sprightly Lass remained solid and was a great ride to get the in.

Race 6 – Must opt to take the huge value odds for both Bring Me Roses (2) & Miss Admiration (3) here, with both rating highly and marked well short of the respective $15 with Bet365 and $19 with Ladbrokes by The ‘Cock.

Both remained solid in the market whilst the eventual winner Sorpressa drifted out to backable odds of $7. All the money was for Think Bleue and Aloisia, neither went on with it.

Race 7 – If you are keen to bet then it’s a small look to both of Whispering Brook (7) at overs of $13 with William Hill and Quilista (6) at $6.50 with PointsBet.

Both firmed in the market and looked the ones you wanted to be on pre-race. Both finished UNPLACED as Shoals ran over the top of all runners.

Race 8 – Wash down the day’s fill-up with a good stake on Hussterical (11) at $5 with Bet365 for some icing on the cake.

Drifted in the betting and jumped at $7.50. Never really came on to finish UNPLACED. The winner French Emotion was easy in the market drifting from $6 to $9.

Flemington

Race 6 – Very good value on offer for The ‘Cock’s top two is enough to warrants a small stake on each, with Silvera (1) at $11 and Boxachocolates (2) at $8.50, both with Bet365.

BOTH SCRATCHED.

Race 7 – If the price is right for Land Of Plenty (8), don’t hold back.

WIN. Was well supported in the market and was the only one the punters wanted and it did not disappoint winning comfortably.

Race 8 – Show a strong hand on Magic Consol (5) at the $2.90 with Ladbrokes.

FOURTH. Drifted in the betting slightly and the way the race was run did not suit and it showed.

Race 9 – Not a must have bet for the day, but if you’re looking to be involved favour a small stake on the superior value for Lord Sundowner (2) at $6.50 with Ladbrokes.

SECOND. Wasn’t a great deal splitting The ‘Cock’s top 2 in this race and they finished as the quinella. Lord Sundowner drifted whilst Iconoclasm firmed well.

Rosehill

Race 6 – No need to overcomplicate this one, with a good go for Nettoyer (7) at $2.50 with Bet365 the tonic.

THIRD. Drifted late and ran on for third in a disappointing effort.

Race 7 – No Bet Race.

Layed the favourite Serene Miss who drifted aggressively before running third.

Race 8 – The favourite has taken all the money and opened up some exceptional value for Reflectivity (6) at $7 and The ‘Cock will be diving headlong into that price with a full hand on show.

SCRATCHED.

Race 9 – Spare a handful of your day’s winnings to prop the bar up tonight, with another win from In Times Of War (12) on the agenda and the $7 with Bet365 the avenue for a fill-up.

SCRATCHED.

Gold Coast

Race 6 – Pray to anyone who will listen that Spurcraft (19) can get a run because he looks one of the best value pops anywhere in the country on the day, with The ‘Cock poised to pull the trigger on the $17 with Bet365 the second there is confirmation.

EMERGENCY.

Race 7 – The right card to play is a medium look at the known quantity in Whypeeo (1), still providing good value for money at $3.20.

SECOND. Firmed well in the market and was run down by a classy horse Champagne Cuddles.

Race 8 – Simple equation here with Comin Through (2) at $3 with Ladbrokes and It’s Somewhat (1) at $5 with Bet365 both providing strong value that warrants investments on both of them, with the emphasis on Comin Through.

BOTH UNPLACED. Didin’t get the right rides and runs in this one and it was costly down the straight as Oregon’s Day got the perfect sit and found a way to get the job done.

Race 9 – Neds have been very generous here to provide $3.30 overs for Anatola (5), and The ‘Cock thoroughly looks forward to seeing his tens of thousands of followers feasting on that price.

WIN. Was solid in the betting and it streaked in the straight to win very comfortably to finish off on the Gold Coast.

Ascot

Race 5 – No Bet race.

Race 6 – A medium stake is all that is required to take a very good sum from Three Votes (1) at $6 with Bet365.

THIRD. Took on the $1.55 favourite and finished third. Favourite was beaten confirming thoughts that it was well unders at $1.55.

Race 7 – If you’re going to have a red-hot crack at a short one anywhere around the country today, make it Arcadia Prince (8) at $1.90.

SECOND. Firmed to $1.50 and looked the winner before being beaten by Sir Snugalot.

Race 8 – With the piles of cash you’ll have at your disposal by this point, some love for Wonorg (9) at $51 with Bet365 won’t go astray.
